Garfield United Methodist Church’s sanctuary ceiling and wall damage caused by roof leaks are being repaired by Renstrom Homes, Inc., of Garfield, Wash.
Owned by Ken Renstrom of Garfield , the firm is removing water damaged plaster. It will hang, tape and texture sheetrock and paint the church sanctuary’s interior walls, ceiling and interior entrance steps area.
Renstrom Homes is doing the work after its bid was accepted by the Garfield UMC Board of Trustees. John Elwood, Trustees chair, is supervising the project.
Work started April 21, 2010, and is expected to be completed by June, said Peggy Ray, Garfield UMC pastor. During the renovation, worship services will be held in the church’s downstairs fellowship hall.
Before Renstrom’s scaffolding was set up in the sanctuary, church members moved pews, chimes, a piano, organ and other items.
The leaky roof, which caused the inside damage, was repaired in 2009.
